A Came to Myself Moment

“So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. When he came to his senses, he said, my father has food to spare, and here I’m starving to death!” Luke 15:15-16

In a world that’s filled with bad news, it is comforting to know we can serve a God who refuses to give up on what he made. God created us all to have a mind of God, and heart of God, to love ourselves, and love others! Amen. No matter ur weight loss story “A came to myself” will come.

The Story of the Prodigal son described above tells the story of a young son whose

life started well but found himself in a pigpen. You know you are heading for trouble when one values things more than a person, pleasure more than duty to responsibilities and distant scenes more than many blessings at home. “A dissatisfied heart leads to a dissatisfied life.” The bible says, “A man or woman’s life consists not in the abundance of things;” so beware of covetousness. Luke 12:15.

It was customary during Jesus’ time to walk the streets to share who God is, his character, his knowledge, wisdom, understanding and love. Jesus often shared stories called parables. Prodigal” in this story means wasteful. The story describes the younger of two sons who had a “strong will” to leave home. He desired to go to another city to live on his inheritance money that traditionally would come to him after his Father’s death; How arrogantly selfish a move to ask his father. It is like saying, “I just wish you would die, give me my inheritance money now! I am tired of living with you, your house rules and work chores bore me!” But, the Father graciously directed to the son his inheritance. The son left. Soon thereafter, he had wasted his funds on riotous living. There became a famine in the land and only job available was feeding pigs where he yearned the pig’s food. The bible tells us there is an insanity within that’s sin, which paralyzes the Image of God within which liberates the animal inside. Sin make u think u find yourself but end up losing yourself. Paul put it this way in Rom 6:23, “The wages of sin or death.” Paul further gives us HOPE. “The riches of God’s Goodness leads us to repentance” Rom 2:4. The son’s painful situation helped him see the goodness in his father that he went back and asked for forgiveness. No matter our sin(s) we commit, we can find joy and God’s goodness in turning to repentance when “A Came to Myself Moment” occurs. Acts 20:22-24 says, “Testifying, I go bound in Spirit, not knowing things before me, save the Holy Spirit upon me…that I may finish my course with joy, the gospel of the Grace of God.”
